Share-the-Plate Donations Serve Six Organizations

The Shoreline Unitarian Universalist Society in Madison donates 50 percent of the weekly amount from the offering collection plate during the Sunday worship service to a different organization each month. Known as Share the Plate, nearly $3,000 was donated from congregants at the Madison location then online after the COVID-19 pandemic closed the building.

The cash donations from January through June of 2020 went to: Fuel Assistance in Clinton, Literacy Volunteers Valley Shore, Creating Yourself, The Connecticut League of Conservation Voters, Unitarian Universalist Service Committee, and the Amistad Catholic Workers House in New Haven.

During the summer, Unitarian Universalist youth and adult members and friends participated in a juice drive. Donations of juice boxes, cans, and bottles of juice were collected on the church porch, then delivered to Guilford and Madison food pantries. The project was part of the Faith Formation religious education program.
