Cooling/Charging Stations:
Old Saybrook
The town's limited recovery center opens at noon at Old Saybrook High School, 1111 Boston Post Road. Residents can charge their devices at socially distant charging stations. Free wifi is also available. Residents can bring water containers and use potable water hoses to fill them up.
Clinton
The Clinton Town Hall, 54 E Main Street, is available as a charging station during regular business hours. The Green Room and Rose Room are available for residents who need to charge their electronics. Face masks are required while in the building and residents need to continue to be social distant.
Madison
The Town Campus Emergency Shelter at the Madison Gym, 4 Campus Drive is open. Residents can use the facility to charge cell phones and take showers. Please bring your own chargers and toiletries, and use the supplied cleaning items after showering due to the pandemic. A maximum of 40 people can be inside the gym at one time and masks must be worn. Potable water is available at town hall, near the entrance facing the gym. Bring your own containers. A water truck is being arranged to be located at the North Madison firehouse.
North Haven
The North Haven Middle School Cafeteria, 55 Bailey Road, will be open to serve as a colling station from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Temperatures will be checked as a precaution to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
Branford
Charging stations are available at the following locations: Branford Fire Headquarters, 45 North Main Street.; Indian Neck Fire Station, 9 Linden Avenue.; Stony Creek Fire House, 41 School Street.; and Town Hall, 1019 Main Street. There are outlets available outside in each of those locations.
The Joe Trapasso Community House located at 46 Church Street will open as a cooling center for Branford Residents. Please ring the doorbell located at the rear entrance. The hours will be as following: Wednesday, August 5, 2020 from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, August 6, 2020 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday, August 7, 2020 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Residents cannot visit the facility if they are sick or have been in contact with someone that has tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 14 days, or have traveled to a state that is on the State of CT travel advisory list. All visitors must adhere to the following COVID-19 safety protocols: have your temperature checked upon arrival; sign in by providing your name and contact information; use hand sanitizer upon entry; wear a face covering at all times while inside the building (unless you have a medical condition that prevents you from wearing one). Practice social distancing at all times and maintain a 6-foot distance. Failure to comply with the protocols may result in being asked to leave the facility.
Essex
Essex residents who need water can bring containers to the Grove Street entrance of the Town Hall where a hose is available for use. Those who need to charge any devices, there is a charging station outside the building that will be available during business hours, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
East Haven
As part of the storm preparation, the emergency management staff met with public services to ensure that they are in a state of readiness for storm response and recovery. All personnel have been placed on alert that they may be expected to work extended hours to clear roads of debris and downed trees. All trucks have been fueled, and town buildings prepared for the storm. In the event there is a need for relocation or evacuation, designated shelters have been prepared, the locations of which will be announced at that time. Emergency management staff have been in regular contact with Connecticut Emergency Management Officials since the storm threatened Connecticut and they will continue to monitor this storm throughout the event.
