Yaccarino Endorsed by North Haven Republicans

The North Haven Republican Town Committee enthusiastically and unanimously endorsed State Representative Dave Yaccarino as their District 87 state representative candidate for re-election in 2020.

State Senator Len Fasano nominated Yaccarino by saying, “It has been an honor to serve alongside Dave Yaccarino in the state legislature. As his colleague, I have seen firsthand how much he cares about our community and how hard he works to make sure everyone in North Haven has a voice at the State Capitol. He is someone who would do anything to help a neighbor. He is a strong advocate for common sense solutions to reduce burdens on families and make Connecticut a place where all people have an opportunity to succeed. The people of North Haven are very lucky to have an advocate like Dave Yaccarino fighting for them.”

North Haven First Selectman Michael J. Freda seconded Yaccarino’s nomination.

Through his many years as a North Haven resident and five terms as state representative, Yaccarino has demonstrated his ability to successfully deliver solutions for a multitude of citizens by working tenaciously to remove obstacles that threaten their quality of life. This is especially evident in his ability to cut through government red tape and bureaucracy to support the needs of his constituents.

Known for his bi-partisan nature and ability to reach across the aisle, his well-earned leadership role as House Republican whip has gained him the respect of legislators and leaders of both political parties.

House Minority Leader Themis Klarides acknowledged Yaccarino’s service to the Town of North Haven by saying, “I have had the pleasure of serving with Dave for the past 10 years in the house. He is one of the most kindly, committed, and caring individuals with whom I have had the honor to serve. Besides his family, there is nothing Dave is more committed to, or works harder for, than North Haven”.

Yaccarino has life-long middle-class roots in North Haven as a local small business owner and father of three children who all went through the North Haven High School. His social activism and public service volunteering, as both a private citizen and elected public official, spans a period of more than 30 years.

Yaccarino’s empathy for his constituents’ needs is reflected in his volunteer work with veterans organizations, Boy Scouts, Max Sinoway Baseball and North Haven Girls Softball, youth group mentoring, adults with special needs, emergency shelters, soup kitchens, his church men’s club, and the bi-partisan legislation he has sponsored in the General Assembly. He has maintained a 10-year, 100-percent voting record in the General Assembly, and is currently a member of the Commerce Committee;, Veterans Committee, and the Bonding sub-committee.

Yaccarino has qualified for public financing under the rules and regulations of the State Elections Enforcement Commission’s Citizens Election Program.

Yaccarino is a member of the North Haven Republican Town Committee, Co-Chairman of the Connecticut bipartisan bioscience caucus, a member of Post 76 American Legion, and a former U.S. Navy reservist. He holds an associates degree from Gateway Community College where he has taught history and was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
