It's been about 11 weeks since our community was rocked by COVID19. Thanks to you, we have been able to make a real difference in the lives of those impacted by this unprecedented event.
The original intent of the Branford Community Foundation's COVID19 Response Fund for Branford was to provide immediate financial grants to individuals who suddenly found themselves without a paycheck due to the pandemic and before governmental assistance was available. Through our partnership with Women & Family Life Center, BCF provided financial assistance to 81 families totaling $38,500.
As the generosity of the community poured in, BCF was able to expand our impact to other organizations and initiatives addressing the emergent needs caused through COVID19. In fact, to date and thanks to you, we've supported 18 grant requests impacting infants to seniors, from basic needs to supporting local businesses, and diapers to surgical masks. This incredible impact on our Branford community is only possible thanks to your generous support. The COVID19 Fund for Branford has raised $179,904 as of May 18th, and $161,285 of that has been distributed throughout our community to support those impacted by this pandemic.
