Shore Publishing/Zip06 Journalists Win Top Honors in CT SPJ Awards


Amidst the upheaval of delivering stories about the coronavirus pandemic, the writing, photography, and design staff here at the Shore Publishing/Zip06.com received some good news on May 21 with the announcement of the Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists’ 2019 Excellence in Journalism awards.

At the virtual awards ceremony, delivered initially via video on Facebook, Zip06.com staff members received 16 awards, including 10 first-place honors, in categories ranging from health and religion reporting to page layout and photography.

This type of success relies on several factors, not least of which is the public support we get from readers who value reliable journalism and welcome us into their communities. As editor, I also see that success as testament to the contributions of a talented and dedicated team, from fellow journalists to sales and office staff, that make these accomplishments possible.
