05/20/2020 12:00 AMThe Republican delegates of the 35th House District voted unanimously to endorse State Representative Jesse MacLachlan to a fourth term in the state legislature. MacLachlan has represented the towns of Clinton, Killingworth, and Westbrook since 2015. Delegates remarked on MacLachlan’s dedicated record of public service as well as being an effective and accessible legislator for the three communities.
“I am honored by the overwhelming support I’ve received tonight from the delegates in the towns of Clinton, Killingworth, and Westbrook. I am proud to be our voice in Hartford to advocate for lower taxes, small business growth, and equitable education funding. In these tough and uncertain times, we need experienced leadership who can work across the aisle to get the job done,” said MacLachlan.
Dr. Kim Walker, a member of the Westbrook Board of Education, placed MacLachlan’s name into nomination with the following remarks.
“I have known Representative MacLachlan for years and there’s one thing I know, he cares about our communities and fights for us every single day,” Walker said. “Jesse is dedicated to ensuring that future generations have the same opportunities to live, work, and raise a family here in Connecticut.”
Gary Bousquet, the chair-elect of the Clinton Republican Town Committee seconded the nomination with the following remarks.
“Jesse’s commitment to our towns is shown in his work ethic each and every day. In the past five years, Clinton has become a stronger community because of his hard work and dedication,” Bousquet said. “Our town and the surrounding towns need Jesse to stay in the legislature because of his ability to work across the aisle and build coalitions of people all across the political spectrum.”
MacLachlan was elected to serve the 35th District of Clinton, Killingworth, and part of Westbrook in November 2014 and was overwhelmingly re-elected in November 2016 and November 2018. He currently serves on the Environment, Transportation, and Education committees.
MacLachlan attended Westbrook public schools and has been a resident for more than 18 years. He is a graduate of Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts and has a degree in political science. He is a sustainable infrastructure entrepreneur.
