To help residents adhere to the state's COVID-19 face-covering mandate, and help get businesses back in gear as Connecticut begins re-opening businesses including retail stores, restaurant outdoor dining areas and salons on May 20, the Town of North Branford has organized free distribution of what is being described as a "large quantity" of protective masks for residents to pick up. Packages of masks will be safely distributed using a drive-through system set up in the North Branford High School (NBHS) parking lot Saturday, May 16, from  9 a.m. – 2 p.m., or while supplies last.

As a May 13 press release issued by the Town of North Branford noted, "...with more businesses scheduled to open on May 20 and the State requirements regarding the use of facial coverings in public spaces, this is an opportunity to ensure all residents have access to this vital protective equipment."

The masks will be issued in packages of ten, and only to residents of North Branford and Northford. Drivers must enter the school campus using the driveway entrance at 654 Foxon Road. Proof of residency must be shown at time of pick-up.

The press release also shared the following particulars and procedures that will be involved with the mass mask giveaway:

Face masks will be distributed via a drive through at North Branford High School with entry allowed only from Foxon Road/Route 80. Residents are required to provide proof of residency after entering the North Branford High School lot.

Drivers will be asked to please approach the distribution point with their vehicle's rear window down; a package of masks will be placed on the rear seat.

Residents that do not have transportation or are unable to attend the free give away on Saturday May 16 are encouraged to call Town Hall at (203) 484-6000 to make alternative arrangements no later than Tuesday, May 19.
