Edwyna Bartholomew has seen a lot of birthdays, but nothing like the one planned for her 103rd celebration on Thursday, May 7. With COVID-19 dampening the prospects of a traditional celebration, members of Branford Police and Branford Fire supported a drive-by birthday parade by adding police vehicles and fire apparatus, complete with sirens and flashing lights.

Bartholomew and a small group of friends and family set up a perfect view of the parade, in lawn chairs at the corner of Montowese Street and Meadow Street, while Mother Nature provided a perfectly sunny spring day to enjoy the passing parade. A video of the parade was shared by Branford Police on May 7 at the department's Facebook page, helping to quickly gather some 50 comments of thanks and birthday wishes for Bartholomew.

A relative of Bartholomew, Besty Parciniski-DiQuattro, also posted a note of thanks to BPD, adding, "My aunt was thrilled!"
