Erin Reilly Is Exchange Club’s February Youth of the Month

The Exchange Club of Madison recently honored Erin Reilly, daughter of Bill and Lucy Reilly, with the David Bell Scholarship Award for the February 2020 Youth of the Month.

The Daniel Hand High School (DHHS) senior was nominated by the DHHS faculty and completed a competitive application including an essay titled “How Do You Intend to Serve as an Example, Now and in the Future, of a Responsible American Citizen?”

The Exchange Club of Madison Program Chairman David Bell presented Erin Reilly with a $300 award and a commemorative plaque. Reilly is a high honors student, taking many AP courses, is a member of the Student Leadership and Class Council, the DHHS Band, Clan Club, and National Honors Society and is captain of the Swim Team. She has volunteered at the Yale Girls’ Science Investigations Program for the Extraterrestrial World, Habitat for Humanity, Guilford Fair parking, Madison Triathlon, and Madison Youth & Family Services and is a co-founder and president of the E&M Music Group that plays music at local senior centers and hospices.

Reilly’s awards include the Judy Snow Student Athlete Service Award, the New York Concert Festival International Grand Prix Winner, National Merit Scholarship Program Letter of Commendation, AP Scholar Award, Honor Guard for 2019 Graduation, Latin, English, Physical Education, and Social Studies United Nations Service Merit and Honors awards, and New London Piano Festival Solo Excellence Award; she is a U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad National finalist.

For next year, Reilly has received a full scholarship to UConn and has been accepted to UMass. In addition she has applied to Yale, Harvard, and the University of Virginia.
