Clinton Reports First Regional COVID-19 Fatality

It is with great sadness that the Town of Clinton reports that a resident has passed away due to complications from COVID-19. The Connective River Area Health District reported that the resident was a female in her 70s, who passed away at Middlesex Hospital.

The Town of Clinton’s main objective remains to continue to keep residents safe and help slow the spread of the virus. The single best way to slow the spread is to practice social distancing.

Residents who feel symptomatic of COVID-19 should stay at home and call or email their primary care provider with questions. Residents can call the State of Connecticut’s 2-1-1 line if instructed by their primary care provider to arrange testing or if they have questions about being tested. A series of questions will be asked by a 2-1-1 representative to determine if testing is appropriate.

All residents in the Town of Clinton are strongly encouraged to take preventative actions to help protect themselves and the community as your civic responsibility, these include:

· Staying home if you are sick except to get medical care

· Maintain social distancing of six feet when in public

· Avoiding close contact with people who are sick

· Washing your hands with soap and water frequently and for at least 20 seconds

· Covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands after

· Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth

· Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces
