Old Saybrook Announces Third Confirmed COVID-19 Case

Old Saybrook’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) on March 24 announced a third confirmed case of COVID-19 in town. That person has not had any contact with people in the community, according to the announcement.

The first resident who contracted the virus had contact with two other residents, who are now in quarantine, according to a March 22 announcement.

On March 23, OEM announced that there was a second confirmed case in town.

The Connecticut River Area Health District (CRAHD) “and the Police Department determined the exposure possibilities from the second COVID-19 case,” the announcement read. “This fostered others to be tested and to practice self-quarantining procedures. If we did not contact you, you are not involved.”

The identities of those who have been confirmed positive for COVID-19 cannot be made public. Agencies such as CRAHD will do its best to communicate with anyone who might have had contact with them, however, so that they, in turn, can be tested and asked to self-quarantine.

OEM is providing at least one update per day between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. Residents can receive these updates via text message by texting “COVID19OS” to 888-777.
