Westbrook Offers Students Distance Ed and Free Lunch

Westbrook will begin distance learning for public school students beginning Monday, March 23.

“A team of administrators, our lead curriculum teacher, and staff have been working to organize our hybrid distance learning platform,” Superintendent of Schools Patricia A. Ciccone stated in a March 19 email.

The message included attachments with general information about technology requirements, getting started, schedules, services for students with disabilities, and an overview of distance learning.

The three school principals will send parents instructions, specific to children’s grade levels, on using the necessary technology as well as picking up students’ personal belongings, textbooks, and other resources, the email said.

In addition, as of Monday, March 23, free “grab-and-go” lunches for all children under the age of 18 will be available at Daisy Ingraham Elementary School Monday through Friday between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. Westbrook Public Schools may be reached at 860-399-6432.

“Daisy was chosen as the meal site because it is on the 9-Town Transit bus route,” Ciccone said.
