Westbrook Replaces POCD Meeting with Online Survey

Out of an abundance of caution due to COVID-19, the Westbrook Plan Update Committee postponed the community meeting originally scheduled for March 12 and replaced it with an online survey. The survey is intended to gather input from Westbrook residents and property owners about issues important to consider as part of the Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD). The survey, which will be open until Sunday, March 29, can be accessed from the town website at westbrookct.us. For those who want to access the survey directly, it can be accessed at www.surveymonkey.com/r/Westbrook_Plan_Issues.

In April, the Plan Update Committee will review input from the survey and then use that information to evaluate strategies to help guide the community in the future. Information about the POCD update is posted on the town website and the survey results will be posted there once compiled.

The POCD is an advisory document used by the Planning Commission and other Town agencies to support key strategic initiatives related to:

• A healthy environment

• A vibrant community

• A strong economy

The current POCD was adopted in 2011.

Westbrook residents are encouraged to participate in the survey to help ensure that the POCD reflects community goals.

“This plan is an important document which will be used to guide future conservation and development activity over the next decade and beyond,” said Planning Commission Chair Marilyn Ozols.
