02/24/2020 11:00 PMOn Ash Wednesday, Feb. 26, North Branford Congregational Church is once again offering "Ash on Your Dash" -- a chance for commuters to drop by and receive ashes on their dash to work.
The Rev. Vance Taylor said the special service will be up and running for the Feb. 26 morning commute, with ashes available to be received by those who stop in at the church at 1680 Foxon Road anytime between 7 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.
With it's impressive white church building located directly alongside the Route 80 commuter corridor, the idea behind "Ash on Your Dash" is to open the doors for busy commuters who can't avoid the morning rush, but don't want to miss getting their ashes. This option offers commuters a quick pit stop to receive ashes at the altar, and still make it to work on time.
While "Ash on Your Dash" is the church's way of helping people balance faith with their busy lives, the church will also offer a traditional Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m. on Feb. 26. Ash Wednesday is the beginning of the season of Lent, which precedes Easter.
