State Representative Noreen Kokoruda (R-101) has been recognized by the Connecticut Alliance of YMCAs as a 2019 Legislative Champion for her advocacy efforts on behalf of youth and families throughout her career as a legislator.

“I’m humbled to have received this award from the Connecticut Alliance of YMCAs,” said Kokoruda, who represents Madison and a part of Durham. “Part of the YMCA’s mission is youth development, character development, and social responsibility, and the impact they have made on our community over the years is second to none.”

“It is with great pleasure and thanks that we recognized Rep. Kokoruda as a YMCA Legislative Champion,” said David Stevenson, president and CEO of the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA (CCCYMCA). “Representative Kokoruda has been a passionate advocate for her community and the YMCA. We are very grateful for the leadership, energy, and counsel that she has brought to the Y movement allowing us to broaden our mission and serve thousands of kids and families.”

The CCCYMCA, founded in 1859, spans 25 towns and serves more than 75,000 people annually through its 12 branches.
