Brewery Plans Firming Up for Unilever Redevelopment in Clinton

Discussion about a possible brewery among the new re-uses of the former Unilever headquarters in Clinton is moving past the talk phase: The Station's Landing webpage lists Kinsmen Brewery as a future tenant on the property. The land use office is expecting a formal application in the coming days, though there is no official application on record as of press time.

The developer, 1 John Street Clinton, LLC, has branded the redevelopment project Station's Landing. The website states that the project will contain a residential and sports facility component in addition to the brewery.

The Clinton Planning & Zoning Commission in 2019 approved the developer’s proposal to put an indoor turf field on the property. The Planning & Zoning Commission is currently deliberating on another application from the developer to amend zoning regulations that govern the town’s Transit Oriented Development Overlay Zone on which the property resides.

Kinsmen Brewing Co. is an active brewery operated and located in Milldale (just west of Meriden) that operates a taproom in a renovated 19th century factory.
