On Oct. 26, the owners of two iconic Branford businesses - Owenego Inn and Beach Club and Lenny's Indian Head Inn -- sponsored a special "For the Love of Animals" evening celebration which drew a sell-out crowd of 158 ticket holders to the Owenego, in support of Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter.

The Owenego's John and Pat Bloomquist and Lenny's Lloyd and Vanessa Conlin co-hosted fundraiser, which was held at the Owenengo and featured wine tastings, complimentary signature drink by Tito's Handmade Vodka, an extensive cocktail buffet, desserts and a live auction, with entertainment provided by the Michael Cleary Band. All of the money raised will be put toward the no-kill municipal shelter's medical fund to help provide care for sick, injured and other animals in need, said Laura Burban, Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter's director.

In addition to the Owenego and Lenny's, event sponsors included Pawson Insurance, Massey Glass, Stony Creek Brewery, JodiFit, East River Energy, Volpe Technologies, Stony Island Properties, Parthenon Diner and PS Fine Stationers and Tito's Handmade Vodka.
