Early Afternoon Numbers Show Steady Voter Turnout at North Branford Polls

As of 2 p.m. on Election Day, North Branford's voters were making a steady showing at the town's two polling places, and appeared to be on track to reach the usual voter response of about a 25 percent turnout for municipal elections. The polls opened at 6 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.

Numbers provided by the town's Registrars of Voters to Zip06/The Sound, following calls to each polling place, showed a total of 1,700 votes had been cast town wide by 2 p.m.; or a turnout of about 17 percent. The town has a total of 9,788 registered voters. The 2 p.m. voting count does not include Election Day Registration votes or absentee ballots.

As of 2 p.m. on Nov. 5, 936 votes had been cast in District 1, which votes at Jerome Harrison Elementary School. The district has 5,330 registered voters.

As of 2 p.m. on Nov. 5, 764 votes had been cast in District 2, which votes at Stanley T. Williams Community Center. The district has 4,458 registered voters.

In the 2017 municipal elections, North Branford had a 24.6 percent voter response at the polls townwide. In the 2015 North Branford municipal elections, 27 percent of the town's total electorate voted.
