10/29/2019 12:00 AMThough it will be a relatively quiet Election Day in Guilford, with no contested races and only a handful of seats open this year, campaigning for these volunteer positions has been active ahead of the Tuesday, Nov. 5 approaches.

Candidates who have not yet participated in the guide should send an email with subject line “voter guide” to l.robida@shorepublishing.com ASAP.
Guilford has five voting districts, with five corresponding polling locations. District 1 is Calvin Leete School at 280 South Union Street. District 2 is Abraham Baldwin Middle School at 68 Bullard Drivve. District 3 is the Guilford Fire Department Headquarters at 390 Church Street. District 4 is Melissa Jones School at 181 Ledge Hill Road. District 5 is at the A.W. Cox School at 143 Three Mile Course.
All locations will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.
The town provides a voting district map, as well as a comprehensive list of street addresses to help residents identify what voting district they are in. Both can be accessed on the registrars of voters’ website at www.ci.guilford.ct.us/departments/registrar-of-voters.
For those not yet registered to vote, the deadline for in-person, online, or mail-in registrations was Oct. 30.
Voters can also register on Election Day, but only in person at the Registrar’s Office in Town Hall at 31 Park Street. No registrations will be accepted at polling places on Election Day.

For those who are unsure whether they are registered to vote, or where they are registered, the Secretary of State’s office provides an online tool, which can be accessed at portaldir.ct.gov/sots/LookUp.aspx. Residents can also call the Registrar’s Office for assistance at 203-453-8028.
Absentee ballots are handled through the Town Clerk’s Office in Guilford. The form to apply for an absentee ballot can be retrieved at www.ci.guilford.ct.us. Guilford also offers permanent absentee voting status, which requires a doctor’s note, and allows the town to mail an absentee ballot automatically before every election.

Guilford also offers an emergency “curbside” voting service. Residents who are sick and do not want to infect other voters, or who cannot walk into their polling location for whatever reason can request a poll worker meet them at their vehicle near their polling location. Those in need of this service should call the Registrar’s Office at 203-453-8028.
