East Haven Police Offer Updates on Oct. 18 Pedestrian Fatality, Motorcycle Accident


The victim in the Oct. 18 fatal pedestrian accident has been identified as Alfred Hendrickson, 72, of Main Street, East Haven. The operator of the vehicle that struck Hendrickson has been identified as Mark Travisano, 57. Travisano remained on scene during the investigation. This accident and the circumstances leading up to it are still under investigation by the South Central Connecticut Traffic Unit.

At 3:53 p.m. on Oct. 18, East Haven Police and Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the area of 526 Main Street for a report of a pedestrian struck. Upon arrival, Hendrickson was discovered lying in the roadway. He was treated on scene by East Haven Fire Department personnel before being transported to Yale New Haven Hospital. Hendrickson was later pronounced dead at the hospital due to injuries sustained in the accident.

At 8:26 p.m. on Oct. 18, East Haven Police and Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the rear of East Haven Fire Department Co. 3 1420 North High Street for a serious injury motorcycle vs. truck accident. Initial investigation has revealed that both the truck and motorcycle with two occupants were traveling northbound on North High Street. The motorcycle, which was traveling northbound behind the truck, attempted to pass the truck on the left in a no passing zone, as the truck was turning left into the drive way of East Haven Fire Department Co. 3. Both occupants of the motorcycle were transported to Yale New Haven Hospital with serious injuries. This accident remains under investigation.
