Eligibility Expanded for American Legion Membership

The federal LEGION Act signed into law July 30 opens the door to join the American Legion for approximately six million more veterans who were previously not eligible. LEGION Act S.504 changes the American Legions legibility criteria from the previous seven war eras down to just two: from April 6, 1917 to Nov 11, 1918 and from Dec 7, 1941 to a time later determined by the federal government, greatly expanding the terms of eligibility.

American Legion Post 66 in Clinton welcomes all S.504 veterans to join the post. Monthly meetings are held at the Hilliard Jones Cookson American Legion Hall at 82 West Main Street in Clinton on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. For more information, call Commander Jim Lane at 860-304-2553.
