On Aug. 14, Gowrie Group employees served their annual picnic luncheon to the Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries (SSKP) community at Grace Church in Old Saybrook. Gowrie employees worked together to provide, prepare, and serve lunch to more than 70 SSKP guests. The Gowrie team also provided to-go meal boxes for many of the guests to take home. This marks the 11th year that the Gowrie team has hosted a lunch for our neighbors in need on the Connecticut shoreline.

This year’s outreach lunch was organized by the Gowrie team of Diane Livernoche, Laura MacLeod, Samantha Lennon, and Annmarie Bonin.

“Gowrie Group is proud to support the Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries as our employees enjoy cooking and serving a delectable, hot meal to our shoreline community. It is a warm feeling to help those in need and share a smile with our local neighbors,” said Gowrie Group Director of Human Resources Diane Livernoche.

“SSKP is grateful for the ongoing support of the Gowrie Group. With welcoming smiles, our friends from Gowrie prepared and served a delicious meal this week in Old Saybrook,” said SSKP Executive Director Amy Hollis. “Their continued support and hands-on-approach makes a difference in our community. Gowrie Group is committed to helping the SSKP throughout the year, through a variety of outreach efforts. The company’s primary initiative is the annual Gowrie Challenge, which kicks off this year on Nov. 1 and runs through the end of the year. Gowrie Group has set an ambitious goal of raising $175,000 to benefit the SSKP. Gowrie launches the challenge each year with a $30,000 matching gift. The matching funds are used to double the impact of all other contributions. Since the Gowrie Challenge began in 2004, Gowrie has raised more than $1.6 million to help end hunger along the Connecticut shoreline. All are invited to join in the annual Gowrie Challenge by making a donation online or by mail and to save the date for the Black Friday Benefit Concert on Friday, Nov. 29 at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center in Old Saybrook.
