East Haven Fall Festival Brings Grass Roots, More this Weekend

The 28th annual East Haven Fall Festival will bring three days of music, food, rides, crafts, and more to the East Haven Town Green from Friday to Sunday, Sept. 6 to 8.

Festival entertainment is headlined by The Grass Roots on Saturday, Sept. 7. If the band’s name isn’t immediately familiar, it’s likely its songs are. The Grass Roots have made 13 singles that went gold, two gold albums, and one platinum album. Top hits include “Let’s Live for Today,” Sooner or Later,” and “Midnight Confessions.” Only nine bands (including The Beatles) have charted more hits on Billboard’s Hot 100 than The Grass Roots.

Friday night entertainment features the R & B group Men of Soul featuring Personal Touch.

Saturday morning’s attraction will include the East Haven Chamber of Commerce’s Business Expo from noon to 4 p.m. in the festival’s Corporate Tent. The Friends of the East Haven Hagaman Memorial Library will be at the festival on Saturday September 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. as well.

The third annual East Haven Community Classic Road Race will be held Saturday at 8:30 a.m. (registration begins at 7 a.m.); all proceeds with benefit the town’s Police Athletic League. For more information and to register, visit www.ehcommunityclassic.com, emailing ehcommunityclassic@gmail.com, or call Judy Sittnick at 203-996-6596.

Sunday returns the Classic Car Show coordinated by the Vietnam Veterans Association Chapter 484 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Sunday afternoon entertainment will feature New England’s Head over Heels. The festival will showcase various local musical talent and youth groups including the award-winning East Haven High School Co-op Marching Band.
