The Madison Foundation announces the addition of three new members to its Board of Directors: Andrew Cialek, Stephen Dowler, and Peter Roos. The board provides leadership for carrying out the foundation’s mission to strengthen the community by connecting people, resources, and needs.

Cialek is the director of operations for OLIO Financial Planning based in Virginia. He recently relocated to Madison to further his wife’s work as an equestrian veterinarian and will join the Heritage Society within the foundation with the goal of increasing estate bequests and establishing endowment funds. Cialek has worked with several community foundations professionally and said he “wants to be involved on a personal level to help benefit the community in which I live.” He holds degrees in both economics and philosophy from the University of Vermont and also coaches a regional high school rugby team in the area.

Dowler grew up in Madison and is a graduate of Daniel Hand High School and Villanova University. He returned to town in 1999, with his wife and young children to join his family’s residential and commercial real estate business. Over the years, Dowler has been active in numerous local organizations including the Madison Jaycees and Madison Youth Lacrosse. As a local business owner, Dowler believes it is important to give back to the community. He joined the board to “learn more about the current needs in the community, the opportunities for grantmaking and the unique stories behind the establishment of each fund stewarded by the foundation.” Dowler also serves on the boards of the Madison ABC, Inc. and the Guilford Savings Bank.

Roos moved to Madison in 2015 from San Francisco with his wife and two daughters. A banker with 40 years of experience, Roos is an executive vice president and senior credit officer with the Corporate and Investment Bank of Wells Fargo, where he has worked for 31 years. He brings a strong finance and accounting background to the board and hopes to grow the outreach of the foundation within the community. Roos will work to grow the funds under management, “to help those in the Madison who need a helping hand.” Roos has a degree in finance from the University of Colorado and an MBA from Regis University in Denver. He also serves on the Board of Finance at First Congregational Church of Guilford and on Madison’s Planning & Zoning Commission.

“The community foundation is fortunate to engage talented, philanthropic individuals who are committed to improving the quality of life for all Madison residents,” stated Renee Pallenberg, president of the foundation. She continued, “We cannot leave the needs of the community to chance. The Madison Foundation plays a vital role in enhancing the lives of all residents and enhancing the common good.”

Founded in 1996, The Madison Foundation has raised more than $1 million to support educational, cultural, and environmental programs. The generosity of a small group of founding members grew into a vibrant community foundation offering student scholarships, funding for youth and family programs, support for senior citizens, and grants for cultural enrichment. The Madison Foundation approves grant funding each month, all in an effort to enrich the lives of Madison citizens.
