Attorney General William Tong and State Representative Sean Scanlon (D-98) held a panel discussion on Aug. 15 to discuss measures the Office of the Attorney General and the state legislature are taking to combat the skyrocketing costs of generic drugs.

During the visit, Tong discussed the office’s complaint against Teva Pharmaceuticals and 19 of the nation’s largest generic drug manufacturers for their role in artificially and manipulating prices for more than 100 different generic drugs.

Scanlon explained how in 2018 he wrote and passed Connecticut’s first prescription drug price transparency law that requires drug companies to justify large price increases. More than 50 people attended the panel discussion, which was held at the Nathanael B. Greene Community Center in Guilford.
