An East Haven man is set to face a judge in New Haven today after police charged him with repeatedly sexually assaulting a child.

According to police, a concerned parent came to police headquarters with her juvenile child on July 31 to report a sexual assault allegedly committed by a family member. The complainant told police that her child came to her and provided a detailed account of various sexual encounters with the man, later identified as Christian Lorig, 31.

Following further investigation, including specialized forensic interviews with East Haven Police Detectives and licensed clinical social workers, it was determined that Lorig had sexually assaulted the child on several occasions dating back several years.

Lorig was arrested on Aug. 20 and charged with sexual assault in the first degree, two counts of risk of injury to a child, and sexual assault in the fourth degree. He was held at the East Haven Police Department on a $75,000 bond and is scheduled to face a judge in New Haven today.

Lorig had been arrested on May 30, 2018 by East Haven Police for sexually assaulting a different family member. That case is continuing to be heard in court.

The East Haven Police Detective Bureau is asking anyone who may have had a similar encounter with Lorig to contact them at 203-468-3827.
