At its July meeting, the Branford Economic Development Commission presented FreeThink Technologies, Inc., with its Business Recognition Award. The EDC periodically presents the award to a Branford company that is a leader in its field and that contributes to making Branford a better place to live and work.

Ken Waterman founded FreeThink in 2011 to develop and market stability modeling software and to conduct analytical studies and R&D in a number of fields. Today the company leads the industry in accelerated processes for modeling product shelf-life.

After outgrowing its incubator space at UConn, Waterman moved the company and its 10 employees to an R&D facility on Northeast Industrial Road in Branford, where it continues to grow. Today FreeThink employs nearly 40 researchers and technicians in the science and technology of stability studies for pharmaceuticals, biopharmaceuticals, generic drugs, over-the-counter medicines, cosmetics, and numerous household and consumer products.
