08/15/2019 12:01 AM“Are you passionate about supporting social services to help neighbors in need with your donation dollars or do you prefer to give to environmental causes?” This question was posed by The Madison Foundation as part of its Win, Win, Win annual appeal campaign.
The grant-making organization whose mission is to make Madison a better place to live asked residents to complete a short informational survey. The goal was to find out which causes are most important to the community. In exchange for completing the survey, donors’ names were entered into a random drawing. The winner would select a local charity to receive a $500 donation from the foundation.
Town resident and retired teacher Dan Mulvey was randomly selected from among the entries. He donated the money to the Madison Historical Society in support of their efforts to keep Madison’s history alive through educational programming, preserving more than 6,000 artifacts, and maintaining two historic properties.
Founded in 1996, The Madison Foundation has raised more than $1 million to support educational, cultural, and environmental programs. The generosity of a small group of founding members grew into a vibrant community foundation offering student scholarships, funding for youth and family programs, support for senior citizens, and grants for cultural enrichment. The Madison Foundation approves grant funding each month—all in an effort to enrich the lives of Madison citizens.
