On July 16, the Madison Republican Town Committee (RTC) unanimously endorsed Tom Banisch for re-election as first selectman.

State Representative Noreen Kokoruda (R-101) stepped forward to support Banisch, saying, “Whether it’s putting up flags downtown for the parade or working at the gate at the beach, Tom is a hands-on leader who cares deeply about our community. Through Tom’s current role as first selectman, and various appointments prior, Madison has become one of the most desirable places to live in Connecticut.”

“As I travel around the state, I hear it all the time: ‘You’re from Madison, You’re so lucky.’ What we have here in Madison is special, but it doesn’t happen by accident. It happens through fiscal discipline, hard work and close collaboration with residents,” said RTC CHair Amy Stefanowski. “This is exactly what Tom, working with our boards and commissions, has been able to accomplish despite tough economic times in our state, it’s not luck.”

The Madison RTC also unanimously endorsed the following slate of candidates for November 2019:

Board of Selectman: Erin Duques and Incumbent Bruce Wilson

Board of Finance: Former Madison first selectman Fillmore McPherson and Justin Murphy

Board of Education: Incumbent Galen Cawley and Diane Vyce

Zoning Board of Appeals: Incumbents Tom Kelty and Bill Piggott and Dennis Crowe as Alternate

Board of Assessment Appeals: Incumbents Lynne Hubbard and Rich Robinson

Stefanowski stated, “The Madison RTC has seen a surge in activity, with over 20 percent increase in membership since the beginning of 2019. This has helped give these well qualified candidates the confidence to step up and serve our town in these critically important volunteer positions. Our candidates are dedicated neighbors who understand the importance of keeping Madison affordable in a time of changing priorities in Hartford. We are excited to introduce you to all of our candidates over the next few months.”
