Perfect weather set the stage for the Summer Reading Program kick-off event at the North Haven Library. The Daytime Gardeners club members were there to share plants with the children and provide information for interested adults. The children choose the marigold they liked, planted it in a cup, gave it some water, and took it home to plant in their garden. Some adults asked questions about the plants in their yard, how to get rid of pesky weeds, when to prune hydrangea, and how to propagate favorite plants. Photos illustrated some of the projects that the club members prepare for youth activities, and samples of propagation from leaf cuttings were available to show how a new plant can be started from a leaf.
