Tomic Named Exchange Club of Madison Youth of the Month for May 2019

Ryan Tomic, son of Brenda and Richard Morrison, has been honored with the David Bell Scholarship Award by the Exchange Club of Madison as the May 2019 Youth of the Month. The Daniel Hand High School (DHHS) senior was initially nominated by the DHHS faculty and completed a competitive application process which included an essay titled “I am a Catalyst in My Community,” performing outstanding DHHS and community activities, attaining an excellent grade-point average, and demonstrating both personal achievements and earning high value awards.

Madison Exchange Club Youth of the Month and Year Chairman David Bell presented Tomic with a $300 award and commemorative plaque. During his four years at DHHS, Tomic was an honors student, member of the National Honor Society, AP scholar with Honors Award, class officer, and student representative to the Town of Madison Board of Education. Also, Tomic was captain of the DHHS Debate Team, coach of the Middle School Debate Team, member of the Student Leadership Committee, and co-founder of the DHHS Creative Film Group,

Tomic was named one of the two students selected by the DHHS principal to participate in the Education Leadership Conference. An eagle scout, Tomic was active in all spring and fall DHHS theater productions, volunteered at the Madison Food Pantry, and planned, fundraised, and constructed a World War I exhibit for the historical society. Further, Tomic contributed many hours of community service with BSA Troop 491 while garnering other awards including classes in social studies, math, English, and science.

Tomic will attend Northeastern University in the fall.
