East Haven incumbent mayor Joseph Maturo, Jr., has announced his decision not to seek the East Haven Town Committee Republican Party endorsement for another term in the office.

In an email sent to members of the East Haven Republican Town Committee on Monday, June 24, Maturo said he would not seek the party's endorsement for mayor or any other elective office in advance of the November 2019 municipal election.

Maturo served as East Haven's mayor from 1997 through 2007. He was re-elected in 2011.

"It has been an honor and privilege for me and my family to have served the Republican party and our great community over the course of the last 28 years as an elected official, and the previous 17 and a half years as an East Haven firefighter," Maturo wrote.
