Clayton and Stankewich Win Guilford Garden Club 2019 Scholarship

Cassandra Clayton and Alessandra Stankewich were each awarded a $2,000 Guilford Garden Club 2019 Guilford High School scholarship at the Guilford High School Scholarship Night on May 28. The Guilford Garden Club scholarships are given to graduating seniors who have shown community involvement and interest in environmental areas/issues and will pursue such a program of study at college. Each of the students display leadership qualities and have accumulated numerous volunteer and work hours in the community.

Clayton will attend Penn State University majoring in environmental engineering/computer science. She is member of the National Honor Society, French Honor Society, Environment Club, and the GHS field hockey team. She has been involved in the community through Peer Ministry and CCD teacher at St. George’s Church as well as a coach at Adams Middle School.

Stankewich will attend Washington & Lee University majoring in neuroscience/environmental studies. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society, class president, principal oboist in the high school regional band and orchestra, member of the GHS soccer and tennis teams, peer minister at St. George’s Church, and has been involved with Unified Sports and the Environmental Club at Guilford High School.

The Guilford Garden Club congratulates each recipient and wishes them continued success in the future.
