Top 10 Students in The Morgan School Class of 2019

The following members of The Morgan School Class of 2019 were the top 10 ranked members of their graduating class.

#1 Erin Lindsay: The daughter of Bill and Lisa Lindsay, Erin Lindsay is captain of the Morgan girls soccer Shoreline Championship team and girls lacrosse team, and a member of the indoor track team. She was the 2018 CIAC Scholar Athlete and has received All-Conference recognition in all three sports. She has been an active member of Student Council for all four years. She also is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Environmental Club, Mock Trial Team, and is a peer mentor for special education students. She has worked at Red Barn Children’s Center for the past three years. She will attend the University of Connecticut in the fall and will major in ecology and evolutionary biology with a minor in bioinformatics.

#2 Simon Hua: The son of Julie Libner and Anh Hua, Simon Hua is a member of Morgan A Cappella, High School Bowl, Morgan Mentoring, National Honor Society, and French National Honor Society, as well as a senior editor of Literary Magazine. Hua is also a trombonist for the Morgan band, and he has played in the past three shoreline music festivals. In 2018, he was Morgan’s recipient of the Yale Book Award and a semifinalist for the Governor’s Scholar Award. Hua will attend the University of Connecticut in the fall as an English major with aspirations of becoming a writer.

#3 Johanna Gutierrez: The daughter of Jose Gutierrez and Judith Saetama, Johanna Gutierrez is the youngest sister of Wagner Gutierrez and Josie Saetama. Johanna Gutierrez, who speaks Spanish fluently, is a member of the Spanish National Honors Society. She has been involved in React by volunteering at events such as Haunted Hallways and Dodge for Difference. Gutierrez has been named a Morgan Scholar and received the Saint Micheal’s College Book award. She is also a recipient of the UConn Day of Pride Scholarship. She played field hockey until her junior year and has worked at her local grocery store, ShopRite, since she was 15. She will attend the University of Connecticut as a nursing major, working toward becoming a doctor of nursing practice.

#4 Daniel Radka: The son of Dominique Frione and David Radka, Daniel Radka is a member of many clubs and organizations at The Morgan School including National Honor Society, Student Council, the fencing team, and the Political Club. Radka was one of 28 11th graders selected to serve as a page in the United States Senate during fall semester 2017. While in Washington, he worked on the floor of the U.S. Senate preparing the chamber and providing support services for senators while in session. Radka also owns a small business that provides expert car and RV detailing services at customer’s homes. Radka will study business at the University of Connecticut with the hope of continuing his self employment.

#5 Isabelle Ranaudo: The daughter of Bill and Kellie Ranaudo, Isabelle Ranaudo is a member of the National Honors Society, Spanish National Honors Society, Morgan Band, and Mock Trial team. Ranaudo was a four-year varsity member of the Morgan soccer team and was Shoreline Conference honorable mention this year. She also runs indoor and outdoor track for Morgan, where she was captain her senior year and was Second Team All-Shoreline three times. Ranaudo has played for the South Central Premier soccer club for five years where she has been captain of the team for three years. She has volunteered at the community garden and is a junior counselor at Victory Soccer camp in the summer while also volunteering at various community events. Ranaudo will be study nursing in college at the University of Connecticut in the hope of becoming a nurse practitioner.

#6 Chelsea Piccirillo: The granddaughter of Nancy and Jeff Delgado, Chelsea Piccirillo is a member of the National Honors Society and Spanish National Honors Society. Piccirillo was a member of the Morgan field hockey team for four years and was captain her senior year. She received First Team All-Shoreline and Second Team All-State. She is attending the University of Connecticut next year and plans to major in biology, in the hope of becoming a dermatologist.

#7 Caleb Adams-Hull: The son of Sarah Adams and Cynthia Hull, Caleb Adams-Hull has been a member of the Morgan student government for three years, serving as student body president his senior year. Additionally, he was a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society. Caleb was a member of the fencing, cross country, and high school trivia bowl teams. Outside of school, Caleb is co-owner of C&D Goods and Services mobile car detailing, a student member of the Clinton Inland Wetlands Commission, and an avid sailor. Caleb will attend Bowdoin College in the fall; he has yet to decide on a field of study.

#8 Beatrice Atengco: The daughter of Catherine and Jonathan Bimler, Beatrice Atengco is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, and Technical National Honor Society. She participated in field hockey and fencing for all four years along with various clubs such as Mock Trial. She was also the captain of the tennis team, in which she participated for three years. Atengco spent her time outside of school volunteering at the Pierson community garden, teaching young kids how to fence, and helping at the Clinton Soup Kitchen. She will study engineering at the University of Connecticut, but has yet to decide on a specific field.

#9 Ella Franzoni: The daughter of Fred Franzoni and Coralie Williams, Ella Franzoni is a member of the National Honors Society, and served as president her senior year. She is also a member of the Spanish National Honors Society and is the student representative of the Class of 2019 to the PTA. Franzoni has spent the last four years as a lawyer for the Mock Trial team, serving as president her junior and senior year. Sophomore year, Franzoni started the Model United Nations team and served as president all three years. This year, she won Outstanding Delegate at the University of New Haven conference. She will attend the University of New Hampshire next fall as a part of the Honors Program. She will study English and women’s studies, with the hope of becoming a lawyer.

#10 David Saturno: The son of William and Jaime Saturno, David Saturno is a member of the boys soccer Shoreline Championship team, for which he received Shoreline Conference and All-State recognition by CIAC, as well as All New England. Saturno is a member of the Morgan Environmental Club and Political Club and was a participant in a regional Model U.N. competition held at Yale University. He will attend Connecticut College with the hope of majoring in either history or philosophy.
