Branford Man Tracked by K9 Following Serious Motor Vehicle Crash


A Branford man is under arrest after being tracked by a K9 following a one car motor vehicle crash early on Tuesday, June 18.

Branford Police were called to the 200 block of East Main Street at 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18 on the report of a serious one car motor vehicle crash. A witness saw the operator flee the scene on foot into the woods north of the area of the crash. Police set up a perimeter, and K9 Officer Melissa Carney and K9 Arrow responded to assist. They were able to track the driver and found him at 4:23 a.m. bedded down in some very thick vegetation.

The driver, identified as Brian Spinato, 39, of Branford, surrendered and was detained by police. He was transported to a local hospital for injuries sustained in the accident.

The investigation is ongoing and charges against Spinato are pending.
