Branford Police Cruiser Struck by Drunk Driver

A North Haven man has been arrested in Branford after the vehicle he was driving crossed the double yellow line and struck a Branford police cruiser.

According to Branford Police, Joseph O'Keefe, 30, of North Haven was operating his vehicle at 11 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12 when he crossed the yellow line, striking a cruiser operated by Officer Michael O'Connor.

O'Keefe was arrested for operating a vehicle while under the influence and failure to drive right. He was released after posting bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, June 26.

O'Connor was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.

Branford Police remind everyone about the dangers of drunk driving. They urge the use of a designated driver or ride share service.
