East Haven Announces 19th Annual Fireworks/Beach Party


Mayor Joseph Maturo, Jr., and the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 484 are pleased to announce that this year’s 19th annual Fireworks/Beach Party celebration will take place on Saturday, June 29. The festivities will once again include another fun-filled day of food, music, and live entertainment, which will begin at noon and continue right up to launch time (approximately 9 p.m.). The rain date, which will feature limited entertainment and the fireworks, is Monday July 1.

The mayor and committee are pleased to announce that McDermott Auto Group has once again joined PMA Companies, the VVA, and the town in presenting the following entertainment:

Mid Life Crisis from noon to 2 p.m.

Leaf Jumpers from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Prime Time from 5 to 7 p.m.

BillBoard Live ’70s Rock Tribute from 7:30to 8:45 p.m.

At approximately 9 p.m., there will be a presentation by the students of the Wagner Iovanna Vocal Studio featuring Brittany Kammerer, Jenna Comfort, and Mckenna Doebrick.

In addition to musical performances, WPLR-FM 99.1 will be on the town beach adding to the entertainment. There will be food vendors and concessionaires in the immediate area.

As a reminder, street access to the beach will be limited beginning at 9 a.m. Cosey Beach Avenue will be closed from the intersection of Second Avenue to Philips Street. Similarly, Coe Avenue will be closed from the Bradford Street intersection to the beach. The East Haven Police Department will be posting notices and directing motorists in and around the general vicinity of the town beach.

Although the fireworks are presented in a cooperative effort with the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 484 and the Town of East Haven, the majority of funding is obtained from private businesses and some personal donations. To that end, donations may be mailed to VVA Fireworks 2019 c/o Mayor’s Office, 250 Main Street, East Haven, CT 06512.
