Each year, the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE) awards certain middle high schoolers with Student Leadership awards. East Haven’s winners were honored at the May 14 Board of Education meeting.

According to Superintendent of Schools Erica Forti, school principals nominate students for the award based on the students’ “willingness to take on challenges, capability to make difficult decisions, a concern for others, the ability to work with others” and other important qualities becoming of a student leader.

Forti presented the awards to Abigail Brooks, Jonathan Mulero, Antonio Proto, Taya Ragaini, Samantha Schottman, and Chase Wheeler.
