Zullo and Fasano Host East Haven Coffee Hour

State Representative Joe Zullo (R-99) and State Senator Len Fasano (R-34) met with residents over coffee on May 3 to talk about legislation pending before the General Assembly and to answer questions from residents.

The majority of the coffee hour centered around three major issues: tolls, tax increases, and forced vaccinations. The majority party and Governor Ned Lamont (D) are proposing billions in new taxes and are considering placing 50-plus tolls throughout the state of Connecticut.

Lamont is proposing expanding the sales tax to include new items such as haircuts, accounting services, and youth sports.

“I want to thank all the residents that attended my first coffee hour as your state representative,” said Zullo. “It’s important for Senator Fasano and I to hear directly from the residents who we represent on the issues that matter most to them, their families, and their businesses. Residents in East Haven are overwhelmingly against tolls and these new tax increases. They want to see us cut spending and prioritize spending on services that need it the most. Senator Fasano and I are working tirelessly to stop tolls and new taxes and we urge residents to reach out to the governor and Democrat lawmakers and tell them we can’t afford tolls or new taxes.”

Fasano said, “It’s so important for Connecticut residents to make their voices heard on these issues. I want to thank all those who came out to meet with us and share their opinions. If you have an issue that you feel strongly about never underestimate the power of your voice to make a difference at the Capitol.”

The 2019 legislative session will end at midnight on Wednesday, June 5. The goal of the long legislative session is to adopt a two-year budget. Residents with questions, concerns, or ideas can contact the lawmakers by visiting their website, staterepzullo.com and senatorfasano.com.
