Madison Assistant Superintendent Receives Outstanding Administrator Award

On May 2, Assistant Superintendent of the Madison Public Schools Gail Dahling-Hench was awarded the Nicholas Criscuolo Outstanding Administrator Award by the Connecticut Reading Association, recognizing her leadership in demonstrating a sincere commitment to the highest quality reading/language arts instruction for all learners. This award is given to one Connecticut administrator annually. Dahling-Hench was publicly recognized at the annual awards banquet meeting of the Connecticut Reading Association at the Casa Mia at the Hawthorne in Berlin on May 2.

Dahling-Hench has served the Madison Public Schools for six years as the lead curriculum designer in her capacity as assistant superintendent. During that time she has led curriculum transformation efforts that impact each and every student in the Madison Public Schools. In her leadership in language arts, Dahling-Hench was acknowledged for embracing the complexity of stakeholder involvement, leading complex change initiatives, persistently following a path of continuous improvement, and maintaining a strong focus on preparing all learners for the challenges of the modern world when they graduate from the Madison Public Schools. The result has been an ever-evolving system that she and all of the educators in the district can be proud of because it has yielded opportunities to develop powerful, engaged literacy for every student in every grade.
