The Arts are Alive and Thrilling at North Branford's TVES

There is no doubt that the arts are alive and thriving at TVES.  On March 31, Totoket Valley Elementary School (TVES) held it's annual Evening of the Arts, showcasing artwork, sculptures, and creations of over 400 students on display in the gym for families and community members to observe and appreciate.　

In addition, TVES performing artists (chorus and band) sang and performed in the gym. The cafeteria which showcased the TVES collaborative mural, painted by students and staff the direction of TVES art teacher Mrs. Mortensen. The cafeteria also served as an art station for students to create, color, doodle, and participate in a photo both.

The event is a reflection of the hard work of educators Mrs. Mortensen (TVES art teacher), Ms. Rizzo (TVES band/music teacher), and Mrs. Franklin-Biggs (choral teacher).　Together their efforts included hours of planning, preparation, and set up, to remind us all how the arts give students a place to be creative, to feel successful, and to have an important niche in their school; while adding to overall academic and social development.　

TVES principal Carter Welch Ed.D. thanked the teachers and students as well as parents and families coming out to support the event.

"Thank you to all for building a great community night all about the arts and for allowing our students to shine in so many ways," said Welch. "To our students, you should be very proud of your many talents and we hope you continue to develop them and showcase them throughout your school community and beyond".
