Wallingford Man Arrested for Threatening to 'Blow Up' Branford Bank

A Wallingford man is under arrest in Branford after he threatened to "blow up" a TD Bank branch.

According to Branford Police, David Poulton, 72, of Wallingford, was arrested on Thursday, March 21, after he made a call to the corporate customer service of TD Bank. Poulton said he would "blow up" the bank after his checks did not clear. The local branch, 1003 West Main Street, Branford, was notified and the branch manager quickly evacuated the bank and called police. Police received the call for service at 9:08 a.m.

Officers located and apprehended Poulton with assistance from bank employees, who pointed out Poulton's vehicle which was en route to the bank. No weapons or explosive devices were found on Poulson's person or in his vehicle.

Poulton was charged with threatening in the first degree, breach of peace in the second degree, and reckless endangerment in the secon degree. He was detained on a $10,000 bond.
