Six North Branford High School (NBHS) musicians were selected to participate in the 2019 UConn First Chair High School Honor Band. Students were selected for the Honor Band based on "first chair" qualities, meaning the top of their school groups in reference to musicality and leadership skills.

On Saturday, February 23, students selected from 15 schools traveled to the UConn Storrs campus to prepare two pieces under the direction of the UConn Wind Ensemble director Dr. Vu Nguyen, participate in Master Classes with UConn Music Faculty, and perform that evening in concert with the Uconn Ensembles.

The NBHS group traveled with NBHS Band Director Katie Trainer and included student musicians Morgan Bailey, Toby Bourdeau, Marlena Karsmarski, Emily McCormack, Ava Raymond and Emma Schreiber.
