A New Face in the Chester Tax Office

January is a busy time in the Tax Collector’s Office, and Chester residents stopping by may have noticed a new face in the office: Susan Shrack.

Shrack, a Connecticut native, recently moved back to the state with her husband after spending a few years in Virginia. Originally from Monroe, she lived in Woodbury before making the move to Virginia. It was during a visit to Middlesex County for a wedding when she fell in love with Chester and the couple decided to make it their new home and return to the state to be closer to extended family.

“A friend suggested we go to Simon’s and when we saw the center of Chester, we loved it,” said Shrack. “It is such a great town, with so much to offer and it has such a cute little downtown, we love it here.”

With a former career in property and casualty insurance, Shrack said the tax clerk position is a new endeavor for her, one she is looking forward to.

“I am very happy about this position. I hope to meet a lot of people, get to know my neighbors and the community, and do the best job I can,” said Shrack, who will work part-time. “I love saying hello to everyone and helping out as many people as possible.”

Tax Collector Madaline Meyer said, “Susan is delightful and a good match for the office. She is extremely proficient, very welcoming and very helpful and I think she will be perfect addition to the office and the town.”
