'Bittersweet and Passing the Torch' Reception Set for Feb. 16

February 1, 2019:  Yvonne Gordon Moser ATR-P, MA-AT, is stepping aside as the Branford Art Center (BAC) Director/Owner and will be transferring ownership of the business. The community is cordially invited to a special goodbye-for-now reception, "Bitter Sweet and Passing the Torch," Saturday, Feb. 16 noon - 5 p.m. at BAC, 1229 Main St. in Branford. The reception is free and open to the public.

Gordon Moser's original art is hanging with the collections of Nelson Blitz and Catherine Woodard, internationally recognized art collectors of Munch, Picasso, Johns, Kirschner, Close and more.

"When you buy an original artwork of hers, you will be in the company of international art collectors. And now, you can do it for a fraction of the original price, as Yvonne clears out much of her inventory, in her effort to spend more time with her husband," said friend and artist Holly Whiting.

Gordon Moser's husband is recovering from a bone marrow stem-cell transplant; and she has made the decision to sell her business and focus on her husband's care. A percentage of all her sales will go toward Smilow Cancer Research.

Gordon Moser expresses deep gratitude for all those patrons, friends and artists who have visited, supported, volunteered and participated at the gallery and she hopes they continue to support the new owners. The BAC offers a diverse range of paintings, photography, prints, jewelry, pottery, glass works, and clothing design from several award-winning artists. The BAC also offers classes and workshops for the community.

The gallery will remain open, with a grand re-opening and ribbon cutting ceremony in May, date to be announced, unveiling the new works of returning artist and internationally recognized Marc Potocksy.

Founded in 2015 with inspiration and guidance from Greg Robbins, The BAC has been honored to have received the 2017 Shoreline Chamber of Commerce Best Small Business Award; 2018 Hartford Courant Readers Poll; CTNOW Third-Best New Haven Gallery and 2019 Shoreline Times Readers Poll First Best Gallery.
