Branford Kindergarten, Pre-K Enrollment Opens Feb. 20


Beginning Wednesday, Feb. 20, Branford Public Schools will be accepting registrations from residents with children eligible to enter pre-kindergarten (Pre-K) and kindergarten for the 2019-2020 school year.

To apply for Pre-K, a child needs to be four years old before January 1, 2020. Students turning five between September 1, 2019 and December 31, 2019 are also eligible, if they haven't previously participated in the BPS Pre-K program. To enroll in kindergarten, a child must be five before January 1, 2020.

Online registration will be available here or by visiting Branford Public Schools website www.branfordschools.org (click on the link under Parents and Students). After completing the online process, the next step is to make an appoint with District Registrar, Jessica Strassburg, by calling (203) 315-6723 Monday - Friday between 8:30 - 11 a.m. and 1 - 2 p.m

The registration process involves uploading a number of documents to the application. If any cannot be uploaded, parents can bring them to the appointment. Parents without the following (or similar) documents, or those families which are homeless, can be assisted in enrolling their child by contacting the BPS central registration office.

Registration documents to be uploaded with the application include:

Two proofs of Branford residence (such as utility or credit card bills in the occupant's name, current lease agreement, mortgage receipt, bank statement showing bank name and account owner's address, current valid CT motor vehicle registration, etc.

Copy of custody agreement (if applicable).

Proof of child's age, such as birth certificate, passport, or physician's record.

Two proofs of residency, such as mortgage statement, property tax record, rent receipt, homeowner's insurance receipt, current utility bill, proof of government benefits, current Connecticut driver's license or automobile registration.

Health records with the child's medical exam within one year of enrollment date (September 2018 to September 2019); using Connecticut's HAR-3 form. The health record must list all immunizations and be authorized by the child's physician.
