North Branford Congregational's 'Recovery Sunday' Offers Hope, Help for Lives Touched by Addiction

Jan. 18, 2019 -- Addiction touches so many lives, but hope and help are available. North Branford Congregational Church, UCC, warmly invites the community to join in at 10 a.m. on Sunday, January 27 for a special "Recovery Sunday" worship.

"There are members and friends in our church who had bottomed out, faced their demons and are now ready to share with us their stories of how and why their lives have turned upward. We pray that hearing of new life and new possibilities could be an inspiration for others facing similar challenges," said Laurie Vincent, chair of North Branford Congregational's Worship Team.

In addition to hearing testimony of individuals who are in recovery from addiction, each will have time to pray for those in their lives and in the wider community who are struggling. Vincent noted North Branford Congregational has hosted several addiction support groups for many years, and will now carry this tradition of caring into Sunday morning.

"Through our time together, I hope we all can learn about the ways in which individuals and churches can make a difference in the lives of those facing the challenge of addiction. As Christians, we believe a committed relationship with Jesus and a connection with a higher power can make a huge difference in someone's life, especially someone who is struggling, feeling vulnerable and cast out, or living in fear with little support. No matter where you are on life's journey, we want to welcome you to worship with us this coming Sunday and every Sunday," said Vincent.
