12/17/2018 11:00 PMBranford Community Television (BCTV) is reaching out to Branford residents to help plan the future for their local media source. Those who live or work in Branford are invited to complete a short survey to provide feedback and ideas for BCTV Board use in developing its strategic plan for the next few years.
BCTV serves the Branford community by providing public access to public airwaves. The station’s purpose is to be the voice of the community, provide services to Branford Public Schools, and cover important local government meetings. It does this through the three channels (Public Access, Educational Access, and Government Access) available on cable providers Comcast and Frontier. BCTV also offers online programming including livestreaming of town meetings and events on Facebook, as well as on-demand access to programs.
“BCTV has provided residents the means to watch town board and committee meetings and local events like the Branford Festival for many years,” said BCTV Board President Terence Elton. “While we appreciate this, we also need to look ahead as the options for informational and entertainment viewing keep changing with new technology and access.”
BCTV professional staff manages the station’s daily operations and technical resources.
“Many people may not be aware of the production resources BCTV makes available to residents and local organizations, including internships for high school and college students,” Station Manager Walter Mann said. “We strive to ensure the most current technology we can and offer training for residents and local organizations to use the equipment to produce their own programs.”
To provide input into BCTV’s 2019 strategic action planning process, visit the BCTV website, www.branfordtv.org, and click on the survey link. Those who complete the roughly five minute questionnaire and provide contact information will be entered in a drawing for one of three $50 gift cards.
