Awards and Recognitions

The American Academy of Hospitality Sciences has recognized Lenny’s Indian Head Inn with the Five Star Diamond Award.

MaryBeth Canavan has been named the top producing agent in the Pearce Real Estate Branford Residential office for Q1 and Q2 2018.

Additions and Promotions

Exercise physiologist Mark Colelo has joined the staff of Physical Fitness, LLC, in Branford. Colelo holds a B.S. in exercise physiology as well as an A.S. in sports medicine management. He has worked in the fitness industry for more than 30 years, most notably as the director of strength and fitness for the YMCA, and as an exercise physiologist for a senior health care center where he developed personalized exercise programs for its residents based on their goals and needs.

Appointments

The Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CTCPA) has appointed Joseph W. Mooney, CPA, of Branford to serve as a member-at-large of its Advisory Council for the organization’s 2018-2019 activity year. The advisory council contemplates the future of the Connecticut Society of CPAs and the accounting profession, and in doing so serves as a sounding board and source of information for the CTCPA Board of Directors. Mooney is retired deputy commissioner of the Department of Revenue Services, State of Connecticut. He holds a B.S./B.A. in accounting from Georgetown University and is a chartered global management accountant.

Neil Scarfo of Branford has joined the Press/Cuozzo Realtors sales team. Scarfo brings 40 years of experience in new construction, residential sales, commercial sales, residential and commercial leasing, and property management to Press/Cuozzo. Scarfo is a cum laude graduate of Quinnipiac University, has been a notary public for 30 years, and has held a Connecticut insurance license for 30 years. He was treasurer of the Greater Middletown Board of Realtors and is a member of the New Haven Middlesex Association of Realtors and the Greater Hartford Association of Realtors.

Marcela P. Osello, CPA, MBA, has joined Murphy & Company of Branford as tax and accounting director. Osello comes to the firm from Ernst & Young. Osello received both her B.S. in public accounting, cum laude, and her MBA in Accounting from Fordham University. She is a licensed CPA in New York. Her previous experience includes work as Full-Charge Bookkeeper for a 10-person physician practice where she managed company wide accounting and reporting functions.
