Anyone looking for their annual dose of holiday cheer should make their way to downtown Clinton for the 23rd annual Christmas in Clinton on Sunday, Dec. 2.

The festivities kick off at 1 p.m. and conclude with a tree lighting and meet and greet with Santa at 5:15 p.m. Events will be held in downtown Clinton from Post Office Square to the Elisha White House.

The event is run by the Clinton Chamber of Commerce, with the participation of more than a dozen additional groups, and is geared toward adults and children alike.

Some of the activities people will be able to partake in are a Christmas bazaar in the Green Room at Town Hall, an elf on the shelf game, a book walk, and a visit to Santa’s workshop. Attendees are encouraged to share their photos of the event on social media with the hashtag #ChristmasinClinton.

In addition to some of the classic events that are staples of the day, there will be some new changes to the event, Chamber Executive Director Ken Hartley said. New vendors such as food trucks are taking part, and some new businesses are getting involved as well. Hartley said there will be a trackless train at the Abraham Pierson School. To make room for that, parking won’t be available at the school this year.

Another event that is different this year is the participation of The Morgan School boys lacrosse team, which will be joined by its mascot and members of the Connecticut Black Wolves professional lacrosse team for a meet and greet on the lawn of the Eliot House.

Planning for the event began in the summer.

“We have a large number of people from all types of different group in town,” said Hartley

Hartley said that having many of the different groups and businesses from town helps build the community atmosphere of the event and bring the town together.
